Merit Badge University at Waynesburg University

Waynesburg University’s Second Annual Merit Badge University, planned for Saturday, October 25, 2014, will provide Boy Scouts with the opportunity to earn merit badges while being exposed to a wide spectrum of academic disciplines by qualified faculty and staff at Waynesburg University.

Scout Registration
Cost for the day is $10 and includes lunch, a shirt, a patch, and instruction by Waynesburg University Faculty. A space will not be held for scouts until payment is made. All spaces are first come, first served. Walk-in registrants will be accepted as space allows, but shirts and patches are not guaranteed to those registering after October 1. Registration is limited to 300 scouts. There is limited space available. Please click on the blue registration button to view what badges are still available for registration.

Online scout registration can be accessed via the buttons on the side of this page. This year 30 merit badges are offered, including 8 Eagle required merit badges. The badges include:

Adult Registration
Cost is $10, which includes lunch and a t-shirt. Adult participants who plan to attend merit badge sessions must be in Class A/Field Uniform and must present evidence of their BSA registration and current Youth Protection Training. Alternate activities will be provided for adult participants who do not wish to accompany scouts to badge sessions or who are not appropriately registered with the BSA. Online adult registration can be accessed via the buttons on the side of this page. Adult registration is not required.

Already Registered?

MBU Prerequisites
You must bring a completed blue card signed by your unit leader. Click here for a listing of the badge prerequisites. Unless you are advised to the contrary, you will be assigned your first badge choice and should complete the prerequisites for that badge. Scouts should read the merit badge pamphlet for their badge prior to arrival at MBU. Please remember to complete all prerequisite requirements prior to arriving on campus. You must bring evidence of completion of the prerequisite requirements or documentation from a unit leader that the prerequisite requirements have been completed to his or her satisfaction. If you do not have evidence or documentation of completion, you will leave with an incomplete blue card. 

Parking & Registration
You can find directions to campus here. Registration is from 8:00-8:45 a.m. in the Marisa Fieldhouse/Gymnasium (Number 14 on the campus map). Please park in the parking lots marked "PP" or "VP" on the campus map. City parking on the street may also be available.

What to Wear and Bring
Scouts must wear their Class A/Field Uniform to MBU. Scouts taking pottery, environmental science, swimming, cycling, and fingerprinting should wear a Class B/Activity Uniform. Scouts taking the music merit badge should bring their primary instrument if they have one. Scouts must bring a completed blue card signed by their unit leader, a tablet and pencil or pen, a water bottle, and evidence of completed prerequisites, if applicable. In addition, scouts should bring rain gear and dress for the weather.

Scouts may bring spending money for Starbucks and the University Bookstore but should not bring other valuables with them. Scouts may ONLY visit these locations before registration or after they have checked out at the end of the day. Scouts are responsible for any spending money or other items they bring with them. No storage is available. 

Checkout Procedures
Scouts will only be released to individuals identified on their registration. Individuals picking up scouts should bring photo identification. Those identified must come into the gym to retrieve scouts. No scouts will be sent outside to waiting cars.
