Waynesburg University CSI Camp to feature Dr. Cyril H. Wecht
As a part of Waynesburg University’s Crime Scene Investigation (CSI) Camp, Dr. Cyril H. Wecht will speak on various infamous and monumental forensic cases Thursday, June 28 at 7 p.m. in the Goodwin Performing Arts Center on the campus of Waynesburg University. Admission is free, and the public is cordially invited to attend.
Dr. Wecht, a medical-legal and forensic science consultant, author and lecturer, served the people of Allegheny County as their elected coroner for 20 years. He is the author of more than 475 professional publications, along with several popular non-fiction books; an editorial board member of 18 national and international publications; and editor of 35 books. Dr. Wecht frequently appears as a guest on national TV and radio shows to discuss various medical-legal and scientific subjects.
Formerly chairman of the Department of Pathology and president of the medical staff at St. Francis Central Hospital in Pittsburgh, Dr. Wecht received his medical degree from the University of Pittsburgh and his law degree from the University of Maryland.
Currently, he is a clinical professor at the University of Pittsburgh schools of Medicine and Public Health; an adjunct professor at Duquesne University’s schools of Law, Pharmacy and Health Sciences; a distinguished professor at Carlow University; and chairman of the Advisory Board of The Cyril H. Wecht Institute of Forensic Science and Law.
The University’s CSI camp enables students interested in forensic science to obtain hands-on training from certified experts in various disciplines of forensic science. The training provided enhances the students’ understanding of forensic topics and allows them to make valuable connections with professionals and fellow peers in the field.
