Family Day to feature many events
Waynesburg University will host Family Day Saturday, Oct. 27, on the campus of Waynesburg University. Parents, family members and friends of current Waynesburg University students are invited to campus to enjoy the day with their respective students. Registration will commence at 9 a.m. on the first floor of Miller Hall.
The welcome will take place in Alumni Hall at 9:30 a.m., and will be offered by Waynesburg University President Timothy R. Thyreen, Provost Dr. Robert Graham and Vice President of Student Services Mary Cummings.
Following the welcome, families are invited to stay in Alumni Hall and participate in a faculty meet and greet. At 11 a.m., various academic departments will be open for exploration. Available departments include communication, education and business, among others.
Afternoon activities include attending residence hall receptions and cheering for the Yellow Jackets as they play against Westminster. While also benefitting The Greene County Salvation Army, individuals who bring five non-perishable food items to the game will be admitted free.
Kelley Hardie, assistant dean of students at Waynesburg University, said the day provides a great way to interact with the key individuals who have daily interactions with Waynesburg students.
“The Faculty Reception is a great opportunity for families to meet their student’s professors and this will be the first year Family Day includes residence hall receptions,” Hardie said.
In the evening, families are invited to attend Arsenic and Old Lace in the Goodwin Performing Arts Center. The event will begin at 7:30 p.m., and will showcase the many abilities and talents of Waynesburg University students.
