Two members of Waynesburg University’s Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) Chapter will travel to Albuquerque, N.M., to represent Waynesburg University at the 2013 PRSSA National Assembly. The conference will take place Thursday, April 4 through Sunday, April 7.
Molly Winters, a sophomore public relations major, and Brittany Semco, a sophomore public relations and design major, will represent the University’s PRSSA chapter at the three day conference. The young women hold the positions of Waynesburg University PRSSA President and Public Relations Director, respectively.
Waynesburg University’s PRSSA Chapter enhances the education of public relations students by advocating rigorous academic standards, creating valuable networking opportunities and enriching professional development within the field. Both Winters and Semco see the National Assembly as a valuable resource for the Waynesburg Chapter.
“I’m looking forward to working with other public relations students on a national level,” Winters said. “I know we’ll bring back valuable tools to better our chapter.”
Each year, the PRSSA National Assembly gathers to make influential, long-term decisions about the future of the Society, elect a new National Committee and review the bylaws. In addition, those who attend engage in leadership training and networking.
The conference will also offer opportunities for Chapter members from a number of universities and colleges across the nation to network, share advice and exchange ideas regarding Chapter development and activities.
“The National Assembly is a great opportunity for professional development,” Semco said. “We’ll attend multiple informational events and sessions, so I look forward to sharing what I learned with the other Waynesburg PRSSA members when we return.”
